Mr. Adongo holds a bachelors and a master’s degrees in Economics. He is also a fellow of the World Bank and a member of the Kenya Institute of Directors. He has extensive training in leadership and Governance. Mr. Adongo has wide experience in management and has worked in many sectors including banking, media and Aviation. In these companies he has held positions of Director, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) and Chairman of KCB Bank Burundi, Managing Director, Nation Media Group, Marketing Director, Kenya Airways and headed strategic departments for many years. In these functions he has gathered a lot of skills and knowledge in transformation of companies, HR activities including governance, strategy formulation, planning and project management, marketing including product development, distribution, sales and sales campaigns, research and customer service. He has also gathered considerable knowledge in financial management of companies as well as in risk management.

Mr Adongo became a fellow of World Bank following a course in project evaluation and management. He has a wide experience in Project management and M/E processes gained from handling various responsibilities in project management.

He also has wide experience in designing and implementing MSME products having seen through the development of SME products in KCB and playing a leading role in the creation and initiation of the highly successful Tujiajiri microfinance program of KCB group which within a year was operating on a fund of USD 520 Million. These initiatives have been rolled out throughout the entire East African Region with additional commitments of USD 20 Million coming from MasterCard specifically linked to commercialization of agriculture.

For 8 years Mr. Adongo was the Chairman of KCB Board Credit committee seeing the bank grow from number 4 bank to number one 1 in the market in size and profitability with NPL reduction from 18% to 7%. He was also the Board Chairman of the transformation committee which moved the bank from the status of good to great.

Mr. Adongo was also the Chairman of KCB Staff pension fund for 7 years where he oversaw the fund grow to one of the best in returns and in size within Kenya. During his tenure he presided over several huge and successful residential property schemes and office blocks in the country. Returns on property and returns on stocks and security were among the best realized in the history of the scheme.
